Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Facilities - Tarrant, AL.

One of the outpatient treatment alternatives for individuals in Tarrant struggling with opioid dependence and addiction is called opioid maintenance therapy. Licensed clinics and doctors are certified to administer certain medications to opioid addicted people, many that are opioids also and are habit forming. With low amounts however, the user does not experience being high and also does not have severe cravings and is not in opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first drug used for this purpose, but there are other choices currently to pick from.

Methadone is an opiate and can be taken at an out-patient medical center licensed to administer the med, which is taken on a daily basis as a pill or liquid. The price of the med is around one hundred and fifty dolloars a month. Buprenorphine is also an opiate based med, and is a pill often taken every other day. But different from Methadone that can only be given in highly well-regulated medical centers, Buprenorphine can be and is prescribed and administered in doctor's offices. The price monthly of buprenorphine is approximately three hundred dollars per month for the generic version of the drug. There is also a version of buprenorphine that contains the ingredient naloxone, that is a med that blocks the effects of opiates. Someone taking this version of the drug, also known as Suboxone, would find it harder to feel high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken daily, and costs about $450 monthly. Naltrexone is another medication taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs aforementioned it is an opiate blocker and isn't an opioid. A person has the choice to take this drug as a monthly shot, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents a person from experience being high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 monthly.
