Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Drug and Alcohol Rehab Facilities - Bexar, AR.

One of the outpatient rehab alternatives for clients in Bexar struggling with opioid abuse and addiction is opioid maintenance therapy. Some clinics and doctors are certified to administer specific medications to opioid dependent people, many of which are opioid-based also and are addiction. In low enough doses however, the individual does not feel high but also does not have severe cravings and isn't experiencing opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first med used for this reason, but there are a few more options to choose from.

Methadone is an opioid and is meant to be taken at an outpatient clinic licensed to dispense the drug, which is taken daily as a pill or liquid. The price of the drug is approximately $150 per month. Buprenorphine is also an opioid based med, and is in pill form often taken one day on, one day off. But different from Methadone which is only be administered in highly structured clinics, Buprenorphine can be and is prescribed and administered in doctor's offices. The price monthly of buprenorphine is about $300 monthly for the generic version of the med. There is also a type of buprenorphine containing the drug naloxone, that is a drug which reverses the effects of opioids. A person consuming this version of the drug, also known as Suboxone, would find it harder to feel high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken daily, and costs around $450 a month. Naltrexone is another drug used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned here it's an opioid blocker and is not an opioid. There is an option to take this drug as a monthly injection, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents someone from feeling high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 /month.
