Medicare is a federal health insurance program that helps pay for medical healthcare services for individuals living in the Unites States who are either disabled or 65 and older. Individuals who have Part C may have more insurance benefits available to them, but out-of-pocket costs and coverage is different and may be more expensive.

Part D (Prescription Insurance) Medicare Part D covers substance abuse related medications. Including medications associated with treating withdrawal symptoms during detoxification and medications required for maintenance therapy such as buprenorphine or methadone.
