Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Facilities - Fisher, AR.

One of the outpatient treatment alternatives for people in Fisher struggling with opioid abuse and addiction is called opioid maintenance therapy. Licensed centers and doctors are authorized to dispense specific medications to opioid addicted clients, many that are opioids also and are addiction. In low enough doses however, the client doesn't feel high and also does not experience intense cravings and isn't in opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first drug used for this reason, but there are other choices currently to choose from.

Methadone is an opiate and can be taken at an out-patient clinic certified to dispense the med, that is taken daily as a pill or liquid. The price of the med is approximately $150 monthly. Buprenorphine is also an opiate based med, and is in pill form often taken every other day. But unlike Methadone that can only be administered in highly structured clinics, Buprenorphine can be prescribed and dispensed in doctor's offices. The cost monthly of buprenorphine is around just under $300 /month for the generic version of the drug. There is also a type of buprenorphine that contains the ingredient naloxone, which is a med which reverses the effects of opiates. Someone consuming this version of the drug, AKA Suboxone, would find it harder to feel high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken daily, and costs about $450 /month. Naltrexone is another med taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs aforementioned it is an opiate blocker and is not an opioid. There is an option to take this medication as a monthly injection, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents a person from getting high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 a month.
