Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Drug and Alcohol Rehab Centers - Newhope, AR.

One of the out-patient treatment options for individuals in Newhope battling with opioid abuse and addiction is called opioid maintenance therapy. Some facilities and doctors are authorized to dispense certain meds to opioid dependent clients, many that are opioid-based themselves and are addictive. With low enough doses however, the individual does not experience high feelings but also does not have acute cravings and isn't experiencing opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first drug used for this sole purpose, but there are a few more choices currently to choose from.

Methadone is an opioid and is meant to be taken at an outpatient clinic certified to administer the drug, which is taken on a daily basis as a pill or liquid. The cost of the med is around $150 monthly. Buprenorphine is also an opioid based med, and is a pill often taken one day on, one day off. But different from Methadone which is only be given in highly well-regulated medical centers, Buprenorphine can be prescribed and administered in doctor's offices. The monthly cost of buprenorphine is around just under $300 per month for the generic version of the drug. There is also a type of buprenorphine that contains the ingredient naloxone, that is a med which blocks the effects of opioids. Someone taking this version of the drug, also known as Suboxone, would find it more difficult to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It is also taken daily, and costs around $450 monthly. Naltrexone is an additional medication used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs aforementioned it is an opiate blocker and is not an opiate. A person has the choice to take this medication as a monthly injection, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents an individual from getting high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 per month.
