Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Drug and Alcohol Rehab Programs - Ozark, AR.

One of the out-patient rehab options for clients in Ozark who are battling with opioid abuse and addiction is called opioid maintenance therapy. Licensed clinics and doctors are authorized to administer specific medications to opioid addicted clients, many of which are opioid-based themselves and are habit forming. In low amounts however, the client does not experience high feelings but also does not experience severe cravings and isn't in opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first drug administered for this purpose, but there are alternative options to choose from.

Methadone is an opiate and is meant to be taken at an out-patient clinic licensed to dispense the drug, which is taken daily in liquid or pill form. The price of the med is about $150 per month. Buprenorphine is also an opioid-based drug, and is a pill often taken every other day. But unlike Methadone that can only be given in well-regulated clinics, Buprenorphine can be prescribed and dispensed in doctor's offices. The monthly cost of buprenorphine is about just under $300 per month for the generic of the drug. There is also a type of buprenorphine that contains naloxone, which is a drug which blocks the effects of opiates. Someone consuming this formulation, AKA Suboxone, would find it more difficult to feel high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken daily, and costs around $450 monthly. Naltrexone is an additional medication taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications mentioned it is an opiate blocker and isn't an opiate. A person has the choice to take this drug as a monthly shot, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents a person from getting high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 monthly.
