One of the outpatient treatment alternatives for clients in Prescott who are struggling with opioid dependence and addiction is called opioid maintenance therapy. There is also a version of buprenorphine that contains naloxone, that is a drug which reverses the effects of opiates. A person taking this version of the drug, also known as Suboxone, would find it harder to feel high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken on a daily basis, and is priced approximately $450 per month. Naltrexone is another drug taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned it is an opiate blocker and is not an opioid. There is an option to take this medication as a monthly shot, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents an individual from feeling high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 a month.
