The military currently uses a military insurance called Tricare to help veterans, active military members and their families obtain health benefits. There is Tricare Prime, Tricare Standard, and Tricare Extra. Tricare Standard provides benefits for retired military who are 60 or older and their qualified family members. With Tricare Standard they receive services from any non-military health care provider that is payable under Tricare, but also pay an annual deductible and coinsurance, as well as any out-of-pocket expenses. Tricare Extra is available for Tricare Standard beneficiaries which allows access to civilian health care providers within their provider network, with a reduced coinsurance amount. Tricare Prime is available to all active-duty members, retirees, and all qualified family members, and with this they can choose a primary doctor and get referrals to health care services that offer specialty care.
Through TRICARE, members of the military can obtain drug and alcohol treatment services in Payson. This includes individual and group therapy including family therapy, detoxification, and other substance abuse recovery services. They will require pre-authorization for treatment and there are likely to be some restrictions. Military insurance covers both outpatient and inpatient, but inpatient services for detoxification are limited to no more than 7 days. An inpatient or partial hospitalization following detoxification will only be authorized if it is a Tricare approved treatment center, and there are time limits as to how long military members are permitted to remain in rehab.
