The military currently uses a military insurance known as Tricare to help veterans, active military members and their families obtain health benefits. There is Tricare Prime, Tricare Standard, and Tricare Extra. Tricare Standard offers insurance benefits for retirees of the military who are 60 years of age or older and their qualified family members. With Tricare Standard they have access to any civilian health care provider that is payable under Tricare, but also pay yearly deductible and coinsurance, along with any out-of-pocket expenses. Tricare Extra is an option available to Tricare Standard beneficiaries which allows access to civilian health care providers within their provider network, with a reduced coinsurance amount. Tricare Prime is offered to all active-duty members, retirees, and all qualified family members, and with this they can choose a primary doctor and get referrals to organizations that provide specialty care.
Through TRICARE, members of the military can receive drug and alcohol rehabilitation services in Snowflake. This includes detoxification, individual and group therapy including family therapy, and other various recovery services. They will require pre-authorization for treatment and there are likely to be some limitations. Military insurance pays for both inpatient and outpatient, but inpatient services for detoxification are limited to no more than 7 days. An inpatient or partial hospitalization following detoxification will only be authorized if it is an approved facility, and there are time restrictions as to how long military members will be allowed to stay in treatment. A 3-week inpatient stay per benefit period is usually permitted.
