Military Insurance - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Facilities - Tucson, AZ.

The military currently uses a military insurance known as Tricare to help veterans, active military members and their families receive health benefits. There is Tricare Prime, Tricare Standard, and Tricare Extra. Tricare Standard offers insurance benefits for retired military who are 60 years of age or older and their eligible family members. With Tricare Standard they receive services from any non-military health care provider that is payable under Tricare, but also pay an annual deductible and coinsurance, as well as any out-of-pocket expenses. Tricare Extra is available to Tricare Standard beneficiaries which allows access to civilian health care providers within their provider network, with a reduced coinsurance amount. Tricare Prime is available to all active-duty members, retirees, and all eligible family members, and with this they can select a primary care physician and obtain referrals to health care services that provide specialty care.

By way of TRICARE, military members can obtain substance abuse treatment services in Tucson. This encompasses individual and group therapy including family therapy, detoxification, and other various rehab services. They will need pre-authorization for treatment and there are likely to be some restrictions. Military insurance covers both inpatient and outpatient, but inpatient services for detox are restricted to no more than 7 days. Partial hospitalization or impatient treatment following detoxification will only be authorized if it is a Tricare approved facility, and there are time restrictions as to how long military insurance carriers will be permitted to stay in treatment. A 3-week inpatient stay per benefit period is usually allowed. Additionally, there are 60 group therapy sessions and 15 family therapy sessions covered per benefit period, which occur on an outpatient basis. Family therapy is covered one after the active military member has completed other rehabilitation services such as inpatient or outpatient treatment.
