Naltrexone is another drug taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned here it is an opioid blocker and is not an opiate. There is an option to take this drug as a monthly shot, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents a person from getting high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 a month.
