The armed forces currently uses a military insurance called Tricare to help veterans, active military members and their families receive health benefits. There is Tricare Prime, Tricare Standard, and Tricare Extra. Tricare Standard offers insurance benefits for retired military who are 60 years of age or older and their qualified family members. With Tricare Standard they receive services from any non-military health care provider that is payable under Tricare, but also pay yearly deductible and coinsurance, along with any out-of-pocket expenses. Tricare Extra is available for Tricare Standard beneficiaries which grants access to non-military health care professionals within their provider network, with a reduced coinsurance amount. Tricare Prime is available to all active-duty members, retirees, and all eligible family members, and with this they can choose a primary doctor and obtain referrals to organizations that provide specialty care.
By way of TRICARE, military members can receive substance abuse rehabilitation services in El Centro. This encompasses detoxification, individual and group therapy including family therapy, and other various rehabilitation services. They will need pre-authorization for services and there are likely to be some limitations. Military insurance covers both outpatient and inpatient, but stays for detoxification are restricted to 7 days. An inpatient or partial hospitalization following detoxification will only be authorized if it is an approved facility, and there are time limits as to how long military insurance carriers will be permitted to stay in treatment.
