Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Programs - Lower Lake, CA.

One of the out-patient treatment options for clients in Lower Lake battling with opioid abuse and addiction is opioid maintenance therapy. Some clinics and doctors are certified to dispense certain meds to opioid dependent clients, many of which are opioid-based themselves and are habit forming. With low enough amounts however, the individual doesn't experience being high but also doesn't experience intense cravings and is not experiencing opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first med administered for this sole purpose, but there are a few more options to select from.

Methadone is an opiate and is meant to be taken at an outpatient clinic certified to dispense the med, that is taken daily as a pill or liquid. The price of the drug is approximately one hundred and fifty dolloars a month. Buprenorphine is also an opioid based drug, and is in pill form often taken every other day. But unlike Methadone which can only be administered in highly structured clinics, Buprenorphine can be and is prescribed and administered in doctor's offices. The cost monthly of buprenorphine is approximately $300 a month for the generic version of the med. There is also a version of buprenorphine containing the drug naloxone, which is a med that reverses the effects of opiates. Someone taking this version of the drug, also known as Suboxone, would find it harder to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It is also taken every day, and is priced about $450 per month. Naltrexone is another medication taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications mentioned it is an opiate blocker and is not an opioid. A person has the choice to take this drug as a monthly injection, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents an individual from experience high feelings from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 monthly.
