Partial hospitalization/Day Treatment is a type of outpatient addiction treatment program which is less than intensive outpatient and more intensive than regular outpatient rehabilitation. Partial Hospitalization Day Treatment is also designed to help clients who may need intensive treatment for a dual-diagnosis disorder, but do not need twenty-four hour intervention and treatment. For a client who has finished inpatient rehabilitation, a partial hospitalization day treatment plan in Obrien could help them make the transition more easily into a drug-free way of life as a viable "step-down" option. After partial hospitalization day treatment, the client could then phase into regular outpatient treatment.
When a person is in a partial hospitalization day treatment facility, they commonly participate in services anywhere from 3-5 days per week. It is very much like an inpatient treatment program in many important ways, including the fact that clients will have access tonurses, physicians, and mental health professionals who can deal with the physical, emotional and psychological challenges they are trying to conquer. For at least four to six hrs on the days that clients participate in partial hospitalization day treatment, they will receive one-on-one addiction therapy, attend group counseling sessions, psychotherapy sessions, receive any required medical care and deal with any of the mental health issues that are triggering their drug addiction.
