The military currently uses a military insurance called Tricare to help veterans, active military members and their families obtain health benefits. There is Tricare Prime, Tricare Standard, and Tricare Extra. Tricare Standard provides insurance benefits for retired military who are 60 years of age or older and their eligible family members. With Tricare Standard they receive services from any civilian health care provider that is payable under Tricare, but also pay an annual deductible and coinsurance, in addition to any out-of-pocket expenses. Tricare Extra is an option available for Tricare Standard beneficiaries which grants access to non-military health care professionals within their provider network, with a discounted coinsurance amount. Tricare Prime is offered to all active-duty members, retirees, and all qualified family members, and with this they can select a primary care physician and get referrals to organizations that offer specialty care.
Through TRICARE, members of the military can acquire substance abuse rehabilitation services in Orange. This includes individual and group therapy including family therapy, detoxification, and other recovery services. They will require pre-authorization for services and there will most likely be some limitations. Military insurance covers both inpatient and outpatient, but inpatient services for detoxification are restricted to 7 days. Partial hospitalization or impatient treatment following detox will only be authorized if it is a Tricare approved facility, and there are time limits as to how long military members are allowed to remain in treatment.
