When an individual in Proberta needs drug abuse treatment and doesn't have health insurance or the money to pay for treatment in full, the Access to Recovery Voucher is an option to consider. ATR is a federally-funded program which provides the means for individuals to access treatment facilities and support including inpatient, regular outpatient, intensive outpatient, counseling, continuing care, life coaching and recovery support, vocational training, skills building, and transportation assistance. The ATR grant program provides individuals with vouchers to purchase rehabilitation and recovery support services for drug abuse disorders at the provider of their choice. To be eligible for ATR clients must fulfill certain requirements, including: 1) be at least 18 years of age, 2) have a history of substance use or abuse, 3) have a yearly income that is less than 200% of the Federal poverty level, and 4) reside in the counties or jurisdictions that provide ATR.
People interested in the Access to Recovery Voucher can consult with ATR Service Coordinators in their area. If the person's original choice of treatment or facility isn't working out, they can work with their ATR coordinator to locate one that is and that accepts the ATR.
