The military currently uses a military insurance known as Tricare to help veterans, active military members and their families receive health benefits. There is Tricare Prime, Tricare Standard, and Tricare Extra. Tricare Standard provides insurance benefits for retirees of the military who are 60 or older and their eligible family members. With Tricare Standard they go to any civilian health care provider that is payable under Tricare, but also pay an annual deductible and coinsurance, in addition to any out-of-pocket expenses. Tricare Extra is an option available for Tricare Standard beneficiaries which grants access to non-military health care providers within their provider network, with a reduced coinsurance amount. Tricare Prime is offered to all active-duty members, retirees, and all qualified family members, and with this they can choose a primary doctor and obtain referrals to health care services that provide specialty care.

Through TRICARE, military members can obtain substance abuse rehabilitation services in San Pablo. This encompasses individual and group therapy including family therapy, detoxification, and other rehab services. They will require pre-authorization for services and there will most likely be some restrictions.
