Naltrexone is another drug taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications mentioned here it is an opioid blocker and isn't an opiate. There is an option to take this medication as a monthly shot, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents an individual from experience high feelings from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 per month.
