Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Drug and Alcohol Rehab Facilities - Fort Lyon, CO.

One of the out-patient rehabilitation options for people in Fort Lyon struggling with opioid dependence and addiction is opioid maintenance therapy. Some centers and doctors are certified to give certain medications to opioid dependent individuals, many of which are opioids also and are addiction. With low enough amounts however, the user does not feel high and also doesn't have intense cravings and isn't experiencing opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first med used for this purpose, but there are a few more choices currently to select from.

Methadone is an opioid and can be taken at an out-patient clinic licensed to dispense the med, that is taken on a daily basis as a pill or liquid. The price of the drug is approximately $150 per month. Buprenorphine is also an opiate based drug, and is a pill often taken every other day. But unlike Methadone which can only be given in highly structured medical centers, Buprenorphine can be and is prescribed and administered in doctor's offices. The monthly cost of buprenorphine is approximately $300.00 a month for the generic version of the drug. There is also a type of buprenorphine containing the drug naloxone, which is a med which blocks the effects of opiates. An individual taking this formulation, AKA Suboxone, would find it more difficult to feel high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It is also taken every day, and is priced around $450 per month. Naltrexone is another medication taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs aforementioned it is an opiate blocker and is not an opiate. There is an option to take this drug as a monthly shot, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents a person from getting high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 a month.
