The military currently uses a military insurance called Tricare to help veterans, active military members and their families receive health benefits. There is Tricare Prime, Tricare Standard, and Tricare Extra. Tricare Standard provides insurance benefits for retirees of the military who are 60 or older and their eligible family members. With Tricare Standard they go to any non-military health care provider that is payable under Tricare, but also pay yearly deductible and coinsurance, in addition to any out-of-pocket expenses. Tricare Extra is an option available to Tricare Standard beneficiaries which grants access to civilian health care providers within their provider network, with a reduced coinsurance amount. Tricare Prime is available to all active-duty members, retirees, and all eligible family members, and with this they can choose a primary care physician and obtain referrals to health care services that provide specialty care.
Through TRICARE, members of the military can receive substance abuse treatment services in Fort Morgan. This includes detoxification, individual and group therapy including family therapy, and other rehab services. They will need pre-authorization for treatment and there are likely to be some limitations. Military insurance covers both inpatient and outpatient, but inpatient services for detox are limited to no more than 7 days. An inpatient or partial hospitalization following detoxification will only be authorized if it is an approved facility, and there are time limits as to how long military members are allowed to remain in rehab. A 3-week inpatient stay per benefit period is commonly accepted. In additional to this, there are 15 family therapy sessions and 60 group therapy sessions covered per benefit period, which occur on an outpatient basis. Family therapy is covered one after the active military member has completed prior rehabilitation services such as inpatient or outpatient treatment.
