The military currently uses a military insurance known as Tricare to help veterans, active military members and their families obtain health benefits. There is Tricare Prime, Tricare Standard, and Tricare Extra. Tricare Standard offers insurance benefits for retirees of the military who are 60 years of age or older and their eligible family members. With Tricare Standard they go to any non-military health care provider that is payable under Tricare, but also pay an annual deductible and coinsurance, in addition to any out-of-pocket expenses. Tricare Extra is an option available for Tricare Standard beneficiaries which allows access to civilian health care providers within their provider network, with a discounted coinsurance amount. Tricare Prime is offered to all active-duty members, retirees, and all eligible family members, and with this they can choose a primary care physician and obtain referrals to organizations that offer specialty care.
By way of TRICARE, military members can obtain substance abuse rehabilitation services in Granby. This includes detoxification, individual and group therapy including family therapy, and other various rehab services. They will require pre-authorization for treatment and there will most likely be some limitations. Military insurance pays for both inpatient and outpatient, but inpatient services for detox are restricted to no more than 7 days. Partial hospitalization or impatient treatment following detoxification will only be authorized if it is an approved treatment center, and there are time restrictions as to how long military members will be allowed to stay in rehab. A 3-week inpatient stay per benefit period is typically accepted.
