Partial hospitalization/Day Treatment is a type of out-patient alcohol and drug rehab program that is less than intensive out-patient and more intensive than regular outpatient treatment. Partial Hospitalization Day Treatment is also tailored to individuals who need intensive treatment for a co-occurring mental health disorder, but do not need around the clock intervention and care. For a person who has completed inpatient rehabilitation, a partial hospitalization day treatment plan in Ward could help them transition more easily into a drug or alcohol free way of life as a "step-down" option. Following partial hospitalization day treatment, the client could then transition into regular out-patient treatment.
When a person is in a partial hospitalization day treatment center, they typically take part in services anywhere from 3-5 days per week. It is similar to an inpatient treatment program in many important ways, including the fact that clients will get access tonurses, physicians, and mental health professionals who can deal with the psychological, emotional, and physical challenges they are trying to overcome. For at least four to six hours on the days that individuals participate in partial hospitalization day treatment, they will get one-on-one addiction therapy, psychotherapy services, participate in group counseling, get any needed medical care and deal with any of the mental health issues that are triggering their alcohol and drug addiction.
