Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Facilities - Windsor, CO.

One of the out-patient rehab options for clients in Windsor battling with opioid dependence and addiction is called opioid maintenance therapy. Licensed centers and doctors are authorized to administer specific meds to opioid addicted people, many that are opioids themselves and are addiction. With low amounts however, the user does not feel high but also doesn't experience intense cravings and is not in opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first drug used for this sole purpose, but there are other choices to select from.

Methadone is an opiate and is meant to be taken at an outpatient medical center certified to dispense the drug, which is taken on a daily basis as a pill or liquid. The cost of the drug is about $150 per month. Buprenorphine is also an opioid based med, and is a pill often taken every other day. But different from Methadone which can only be administered in highly structured medical centers, Buprenorphine can be and is prescribed and dispensed in doctor's offices. The monthly cost of buprenorphine is about just under $300 a month for the generic of the medication. There is also a type of buprenorphine containing the drug naloxone, that is a drug which reverses the effects of opiates. A person consuming this version of the drug, also known as Suboxone, would find it harder to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken every day, and costs around $450 monthly. Naltrexone is another medication taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned it is an opioid blocker and isn't an opioid. There is an option to take this drug as a monthly shot, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents someone from experience being high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 /month.
