The armed forces currently uses a military insurance called Tricare to help veterans, active military members and their families receive health benefits. There is Tricare Prime, Tricare Standard, and Tricare Extra. Tricare Standard offers insurance benefits for retired military who are 60 years of age or older and their qualified family members. With Tricare Standard they have access to any non-military health care provider that is payable under Tricare, but also pay an annual deductible and coinsurance, along with any out-of-pocket expenses. Tricare Extra is available for Tricare Standard beneficiaries which provides access to non-military health care professionals within their provider network, with a reduced coinsurance amount. Tricare Prime is offered to all active-duty members, retirees, and all qualified family members, and with this they can select a primary doctor and obtain referrals to health care services that provide specialty care.
By way of TRICARE, military members can receive drug and alcohol rehabilitation services in Putnam. This encompasses detoxification, individual and group therapy including family therapy, and other rehabilitation services. They will require pre-authorization for services and there will most likely be some restrictions. Military insurance pays for both outpatient and inpatient, but stays for detox are limited to no more than 7 days.
