Partial hospitalization/Day Treatment is a type of out-patient drug and alcohol addiction rehabilitation program that is just below intensive outpatient and more intensive than normal out-patient treatment. Partial Hospitalization Day Treatment is also designed to help clients who may need intense rehabilitation for a co-occurring mental health disorder, but don't need twenty-four hour supervision and treatment. For a client who has finished inpatient rehab, a partial hospitalization day treatment plan in Washington could help them transition more easily into a drug-free way of life as a viable "step-down" option. Following partial hospitalization day treatment, the individual could then phase into regular out-patient care.
When a person is in a partial hospitalization day treatment center, they commonly take part in services anywhere from 3-5 days per week. It is very much like an in-patient program in many important ways, including the fact that people will get access tomental health professionals, physicians and nurses who can address the physical, emotional and psychological issues they are trying to overcome. For at least 4-6 hours on the days that people participate in partial hospitalization day treatment, they will get individual addiction therapy, attend group counseling sessions, psychotherapy sessions, receive any necessary medical care and deal with any of the mental health problems that trigger their alcohol and drug addiction.
