Nearly 50% of American Indian and Alaska Native drug and alcohol treatment admissions arrive to treatment as criminal justice clients, meaning they have very likely accepted a diversion option to go to rehab in lieu of jail time. So therefore, there is definitely a need for different types of treatment programs to cover all of the very unique requirements of American Indian or Alaska Natives, including substance abuse treatment programs in native languages.
