When a person in Miami needs substance abuse treatment but doesn't have private health insurance or the funds to pay for the recovery program in full, the Access to Recovery Voucher is possibly an option to look into. ATR is a federally-funded program which makes it possible for individuals to access treatment facilities and services including inpatient, intensive outpatient, regular outpatient, continuing care, counseling, life coaching and recovery support, vocational training, skills building, and transportation assistance. The ATR grant program provides individuals with vouchers to purchase treatment and recovery support services for drug abuse disorders at the provider of their choice. To qualify for ATR individuals must meet certain criteria, including: 1) be at least 18 years of age, 2) have a history of substance use or abuse, 3) have an annual income that is below 200% of the Federal poverty level, and 4) reside in the counties or jurisdictions that provide ATR.
People interested in the Access to Recovery Voucher can contact ATR Service Coordinators in their area. If the person's original choice of program or rehab center isn't working out, they can work with their coordinator to locate one that best fits their needs and that accepts the ATR.
