Medicare is a federal health insurance program which helps pay for health benefits for people living in the Unites States who are either disabled or 65 years of age or older. Medicare comes in different "Parts", with Parts A-D covering different forms of medical care.

People who have Part C may have more insurance benefits available to them, but out-of-pocket costs and coverage is different and may be more expensive.

Part D (Prescription Insurance) Medicare Part D pays for drug and alcohol addiction medications. Including medications associated with treating withdrawal symptoms during detoxification as well as medications required for maintenance therapy such as methadone or buprenorphine.
