Naltrexone is an additional medication used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned it is an opioid blocker and isn't an opioid. There is an option to take this medication as a monthly shot, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents an individual from experience high feelings from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 per month.
