Military Insurance - Drug and Alcohol Rehab Facilities - Council Bluffs, IA.

The military currently uses a military insurance known as Tricare to help veterans, active military members and their families receive health benefits. There is Tricare Prime, Tricare Standard, and Tricare Extra. Tricare Standard provides benefits for retirees of the military who are 60 or older and their qualified family members. With Tricare Standard they go to any civilian health care provider that is payable under Tricare, but also pay an annual deductible and coinsurance, as well as any out-of-pocket expenses. Tricare Extra is available for Tricare Standard beneficiaries which grants access to civilian health care professionals within their provider network, with a discounted coinsurance amount. Tricare Prime is offered to all active-duty members, retirees, and all eligible family members, and with this they can select a primary care physician and get referrals to health care services that offer specialty care.

Through TRICARE, military members can acquire drug and alcohol rehabilitation services in Council Bluffs. This includes detoxification, individual and group therapy including family therapy, and other rehab services. They will require pre-authorization for services and there will most likely be some restrictions. Military insurance covers both inpatient and outpatient, but inpatient services for detoxification are restricted to no more than 7 days. An inpatient or partial hospitalization following detoxification will only be authorized if it is a Tricare approved treatment center, and there are time restrictions as to how long military members will be permitted to stay in treatment. A 3-week inpatient stay per benefit period is usually permitted. Additionally, there are 60 group therapy sessions and 15 family therapy sessions covered per benefit period, which take place on an outpatient basis. Family therapy is covered one after the active military member has finished other treatment services such as inpatient or outpatient treatment.
