Clients referred from the court for drug rehabilitation are most commonly referred because they are being given a chance to receive rehabilitation rather than face jail time, other charges, fines, etc. Although this is most common with first time offenders, it can be offered at any point including while the person is being held in jail. There are different types of rehab programs that criminal justice clients may be referred to, and it usually depends on what is local to Crescent and the type of issues they'll need treatment for.
There are recovery programs that work primarily with the criminal justice court system to treat this specific type of clientele, and are usually state funded or are available at little or no cost to the client. There are also private drug and alcohol recovery centers that can be approved by the court if there is a specific type of recovery method that the client needs or wants that a state-funded program can't provide. The client's attorney can present such alternatives to the judge for approval. There are even substance abuse treatment facilities that provide services from the jails themselves, in which case clients are typically in a better position for reduced sentences or other benefits when participating in drug rehabilitation services while serving their sentence for a drug related offense or a DUI/DWI.
