There is also a type of buprenorphine that contains naloxone, which is a med that blocks the effects of opioids. A person consuming this formulation, also known as Suboxone, would find it more difficult to feel high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken on a daily basis, and is priced around $450 /month. Naltrexone is an additional med taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications aforementioned it's an opioid blocker and isn't an opioid. A person has the choice to take this medication as a monthly injection, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents a person from feeling high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 a month.
