Medicare is a federal program which helps pay for medical healthcare services for individuals living in the Unites States who are either disabled or 65 years of age or older. Medicare comes in different "Parts", with Parts A-D covering different forms of medical care.

Part D (Prescription Insurance) Medicare Part D covers substance abuse related medications. Including medications used for withdrawal symptoms during detoxification as well as medications used for maintenance therapy such as methadone or buprenorphine.
