The military currently uses a military insurance called Tricare to help veterans, active military members and their families obtain health benefits. There is Tricare Prime, Tricare Standard, and Tricare Extra. Tricare Standard offers benefits for retired military who are 60 or older and their qualified family members. With Tricare Standard they receive services from any civilian health care provider that is payable under Tricare, but also pay an annual deductible and coinsurance, along with any out-of-pocket expenses. Tricare Extra is available for Tricare Standard beneficiaries which provides access to civilian health care providers within their provider network, with a discounted coinsurance amount. Tricare Prime is available to all active-duty members, retirees, and all qualified family members, and with this they can pick a primary care physician and obtain referrals to health care services that offer specialty care.
Through TRICARE, members of the military can receive drug and alcohol rehabilitation services in Keokuk. This includes individual and group therapy including family therapy, detoxification, and other rehab services. They will need pre-authorization for services and there will most likely be some limitations. Military insurance covers both outpatient and inpatient, but inpatient services for detoxification are limited to 7 days. An inpatient or partial hospitalization following detox will only be authorized if it is an approved facility, and there are time limits as to how long military members are permitted to stay in treatment.
