Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Centers - Little Rock, IA.

One of the out-patient treatment alternatives for clients in Little Rock struggling with opioid abuse and addiction is called opioid maintenance therapy. Licensed centers and doctors are certified to dispense certain medications to opioid dependent clients, many of which are opioids also and are habit forming. With low enough amounts however, the client doesn't feel high and also does not experience intense cravings and is not experiencing opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first medication administered for this sole purpose, but there are a few more options to pick from.

Methadone is an opioid and can be taken at an outpatient medical center licensed to dispense the med, that is taken daily as a pill or liquid. The price of the drug is about $150 a month. Buprenorphine is also an opioid-based med, and is a pill often taken every other day. But unlike Methadone which is only be dispensed in well-regulated clinics, Buprenorphine can be and is prescribed and dispensed in doctor's offices. The monthly cost of buprenorphine is approximately just under $300 monthly for the generic version of the med. There is also a version of buprenorphine that contains naloxone, which is a med that blocks the effects of opioids. An individual taking this version of the drug, also known as Suboxone, would find it more difficult to feel high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It is also taken every day, and is priced approximately $450 per month. Naltrexone is another med taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs aforementioned it is an opiate blocker and is not an opioid. A person has the choice to take this drug as a monthly injection, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents an individual from feeling high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 /month.
