Medicare is a federal health insurance program that helps pay for medical healthcare services for people living in the Unites States who are either disabled or 65 years of age or older. For individuals who do have Medicare and require drug or alcohol rehabilitation in Oakland, this program will cover certain rehab programs and treatment services. Medicare consists of different "Parts", with Parts A-D covering various types of treatment.

Part A (Insurance for Hospital Stays) - Medicare Part A covers inpatient drug and alcohol rehabilitation, and up to 60 days in rehab without a co-pay but individuals will be required to pay a deductible. Individuals who have Part C can have more insurance benefits available to them, but out-of-pocket costs and coverage is different and may be more expensive.

Part D (Prescription Insurance) Medicare Part D pays for drug and alcohol addiction medications. Including medications used for drug and alcohol withdrawal as well as medications required for maintenance therapy such as buprenorphine or methadone.
