Medicare is a federal health insurance program which helps pay for health care for people living in the Unites States who are either disabled or 65 years of age or older. Medicare consists of different "Parts", with Parts A-D covering different types of medical care.

People who have Part C may have more insurance benefits available to them, but out-of-pocket costs and coverage is different and may be more expensive.

Part D (Prescription Insurance) Medicare Part D pays for substance abuse related medications. Including medications associated with treating drug and alcohol withdrawal as well as those required for maintenance therapy such as methadone or buprenorphine.
