The military currently uses a military insurance known as Tricare to help veterans, active military members and their families obtain health benefits. There is Tricare Prime, Tricare Standard, and Tricare Extra. Tricare Standard provides benefits for retirees of the military who are 60 years of age or older and their eligible family members. With Tricare Standard they have access to any non-military health care provider that is payable under Tricare, but also pay yearly deductible and coinsurance, along with any out-of-pocket expenses. Tricare Extra is an option available for Tricare Standard beneficiaries which allows access to non-military health care professionals within their provider network, with a reduced coinsurance amount. Tricare Prime is available to all active-duty members, retirees, and all qualified family members, and with this they can pick a primary doctor and obtain referrals to organizations that provide specialty care.
By way of TRICARE, military members can receive drug and alcohol rehabilitation services in Hines. This includes individual and group therapy including family therapy, detoxification, and other various recovery services. They will require pre-authorization for services and there will most likely be some restrictions. Military insurance covers both inpatient and outpatient, but stays for detoxification are restricted to 7 days. Partial hospitalization or impatient treatment following detoxification will only be authorized if it is a Tricare approved treatment center, and there are time restrictions as to how long military insurance carriers will be permitted to remain in rehab.
