Medicare is a federal health insurance program which helps pay for health benefits for individuals living in the U.S. who are either disabled or 65 years of age or older. Medicare comes in different "Parts", with Parts A-D covering certain types of care.

Part D (Prescription Insurance) Medicare Part D covers substance abuse related medications. Including medications used for withdrawal symptoms during detoxification as well as medications required for maintenance therapy such as buprenorphine or methadone.
