Medicare is a federal health insurance program which helps pay for health benefits for people living in the U.S. who are either disabled or 65 years of age or older. Medicare consists of different "Parts", with Parts A-D covering certain types of treatment.

Part D (Prescription Insurance) Medicare Part D pays for substance abuse related medications. Including medications used for withdrawal symptoms during detoxification as well as those required for maintenance therapy such as buprenorphine or methadone.
