Medicare is a federal health insurance program which helps pay for medical healthcare services for individuals living in the Unites States who are either disabled or 65 years of age or older. For individuals that do have Medicare and need substance abuse treatment in Rio, Medicare can pay for certain treatment programs and recovery services. Medicare comes in different "Parts", with Parts A-D covering different forms of treatment.

Part A (Insurance for Hospital Stays) - Medicare Part A covers inpatient drug and alcohol treatment, and up to 60 days in rehab without a co-pay but policy holders will have to pay a deductible. Medicare only pays for a total of 190 days of inpatient care, this applies to the individual's lifetime.

Individuals who have Part C may have more options available to them, but out-of-pocket costs and coverage is different and may be more expensive.

Part D (Prescription Insurance) Medicare Part D pays for drug and alcohol addiction medications. Including medications needed for withdrawal symptoms during detoxification as well as medications required for maintenance therapy such as buprenorphine or methadone.
