Medicare is a federal health insurance program which helps pay for health care for individuals living in the Unites States who are either disabled or 65 and older. Medicare consists of different "Parts", with Parts A-D covering certain types of medical care.

Individuals who have Part C can have more insurance benefits available to them, but out-of-pocket costs and coverage is different and may be more expensive.

Part D (Prescription Insurance) Medicare Part D covers drug and alcohol addiction medications. Including medications associated with treating withdrawal symptoms during detoxification and those required for maintenance therapy such as buprenorphine or methadone.
