Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Facilities - Andale, KS.

One of the outpatient rehabilitation alternatives for people in Andale struggling with opioid dependence and addiction is opioid maintenance therapy. Licensed facilities and doctors are authorized to dispense specific medications to opioid dependent clients, many of which are opioid-based also and are addiction. In low enough doses however, the individual doesn't feel high but also doesn't have intense cravings and isn't in opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first medication tried for this reason, but there are alternative options currently to choose from.

Methadone is an opioid and is meant to be taken at an outpatient medical center certified to dispense the med, which is taken daily in liquid or pill form. The cost of the drug is around $150 per month. Buprenorphine is also an opiate based med, and is in pill form often taken one day on, one day off. But different from Methadone which is only be given in highly well-regulated clinics, Buprenorphine can be and is prescribed and dispensed in doctor's offices. The cost monthly of buprenorphine is around three hundred dollars a month for the generic version of the med. There is also a type of buprenorphine that contains the ingredient naloxone, that is a med that blocks the effects of opiates. An individual consuming this version of the drug, AKA Suboxone, would find it harder to feel high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It is also taken on a daily basis, and costs around $450 a month. Naltrexone is another drug used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications aforementioned it is an opioid blocker and isn't an opiate. There is an option to take this drug as a monthly injection, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents a person from getting high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 per month.
