Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Programs - Hudson, KS.

One of the out-patient rehab options for clients in Hudson struggling with opioid abuse and addiction is called opioid maintenance therapy. Licensed centers and doctors are certified to give certain meds to opioid dependent individuals, many that are opioids themselves and are habit forming. With low amounts however, the user does not experience high feelings and also doesn't experience intense cravings and isn't experiencing opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first med tried for this reason, but there are a few more choices to select from.

Methadone is an opioid and can be taken at an outpatient clinic certified to dispense the med, which is taken daily in liquid or pill form. The cost of the drug is about $150 a month. Buprenorphine is also an opiate based med, and is a pill often taken every other day. But different from Methadone that can only be administered in well-regulated clinics, Buprenorphine can be prescribed and dispensed in doctor's offices. The monthly cost of buprenorphine is approximately $300.00 /month for the generic version of the drug. There is also a version of buprenorphine that contains the ingredient naloxone, which is a drug that reverses the effects of opiates. An individual taking this formulation, also known as Suboxone, would find it harder to feel high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken on a daily basis, and is priced about $450 monthly. Naltrexone is another medication used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications mentioned it is an opioid blocker and isn't an opiate. There is an option to take this drug as a monthly injection, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents someone from feeling high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 monthly.
