Naltrexone is an additional drug used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned it is an opioid blocker and isn't an opioid. A person has the choice to take this drug as a monthly injection, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents an individual from feeling high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 a month.
