It is also taken daily, and costs about $450 per month. Naltrexone is an additional medication used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications mentioned here it's an opiate blocker and isn't an opiate. A person has the choice to take this drug as a monthly shot, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents an individual from experience being high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse.
