Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Facilities - Princeton, KS.

One of the outpatient treatment options for individuals in Princeton struggling with opioid dependence and addiction is called opioid maintenance therapy. Licensed clinics and doctors are certified to give certain medications to opioid addicted clients, many that are opioid-based themselves and are habit forming. With low amounts however, the user does not experience being high but also doesn't experience acute cravings and is not in opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first medication used for this reason, but there are a few more options to select from.

Methadone is an opioid and is meant to be taken at an outpatient clinic licensed to administer the drug, that is taken on a daily basis in liquid or pill form. The price of the med is about $150 a month. Buprenorphine is also an opiate based med, and is a pill often taken one day on, one day off. But different from Methadone that can only be administered in highly structured clinics, Buprenorphine can be and is prescribed and dispensed in doctor's offices. The monthly cost of buprenorphine is approximately just under $300 monthly for the generic version of the drug. There is also a version of buprenorphine containing the drug naloxone, which is a med which blocks the effects of opiates. A person consuming this version of the drug, also known as Suboxone, would find it more difficult to feel high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It is also taken on a daily basis, and is priced about $450 a month. Naltrexone is an additional med taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned here it's an opioid blocker and is not an opiate. There is an option to take this medication as a monthly shot, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents someone from experience being high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 per month.
