Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Programs - Adams, KY.

One of the out-patient treatment options for clients in Adams who are battling with opioid dependence and addiction is called opioid maintenance therapy. Licensed centers and doctors are authorized to administer certain meds to opioid dependent individuals, many that are opioids also and are habit forming. In low enough doses however, the user does not experience high feelings but also doesn't have acute cravings and is not in opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first medication administered for this reason, but there are alternative options to select from.

Methadone is an opioid and is meant to be taken at an out-patient clinic licensed to dispense the drug, that is taken on a daily basis as a pill or liquid. The price of the med is about one hundred and fifty dolloars a month. Buprenorphine is also an opiate based drug, and is in pill form often taken one day on, one day off. But unlike Methadone which can only be administered in highly well-regulated clinics, Buprenorphine can be prescribed and dispensed in doctor's offices. The monthly cost of buprenorphine is about three hundred dollars a month for the generic version of the med. There is also a type of buprenorphine that contains naloxone, which is a drug which reverses the effects of opiates. A person consuming this version of the drug, AKA Suboxone, would find it more difficult to feel high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It is also taken every day, and is priced around $450 per month. Naltrexone is an additional med taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs aforementioned it is an opiate blocker and is not an opiate. There is an option to take this drug as a monthly injection, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents a person from experience being high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 monthly.
