Short Term Addiction Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Programs - Canada, KY.

Short Term drug and alcohol rehabilitation is a term used to mean addiction rehab that does not last long and usually lasts   from 14 to 30 days in either an inpatient or residential rehabilitation program. Because rehabilitation is not long, it is a great financial option in most cases and for clients who for some reason cannot commit to long-term treatment.

Most short-term drug rehab programs in Canada have group and individual counseling and psychotherapy which is essentially relapse prevention. Because of the short time allowed for treatment services, most clients will need to experience full detoxification before beginning treatment services. One of the disadvantages of rehab at a short-term drug and alcohol rehabilitation program is that many clients may still be experiencing the initial phases of withdrawal and may not be able to focus as well as someone who has stabilized and detoxed completely. This can make rehabilitation within the specific timeframe much harder as people may be physically uncomfortable and moody while experiencing intense physical and emotional cravings.

Relapse rates are understandably higher with individuals who only receive short term rehabilitation as opposed to long term. Individuals who participate in short term alcohol and drug rehab and then phase into an outpatient program or day rehabilitation facility at least have a better chance of staying sober because they will maintain a support system while they progress in their new sober lifestyle.
