Medicare is a federal health insurance program that helps pay for health care for individuals living in the U.S. who are either disabled or 65 years of age or older. Medicare comes in different "Parts", with Parts A-D covering different types of medical care.

Part D (Prescription Insurance) Medicare Part D covers substance abuse related medications. Including medications used for withdrawal symptoms during detoxification as well as those required for maintenance therapy such as buprenorphine or methadone.
